Yep. Yep. Yep. I lost another pound. It is not as big a loss as last week, but hey it is still a loss! I am not going to lie and say it wasn't a little bit disappointing after losing 3 pounds last week, but at this stage in the game I'm just glad I didn't stay the same! To help remind my ungrateful ass what a big accomplishment a pound really is I looked up this picture of a pound of fat. Nasty, huh? But also kinda impressive. I somehow managed to work this spongy looking sucker right off my body and for that I am truly happy. To be honest, I really couldn't tell you what I did differently. I thought I had done the same thing as last week but evidently I did not. I am so glad my GoWear Fit came two days ago! Maybe now I can somehow monitor what is going on instead of finding out (surprise, surprise) on weigh in day. Oh, and for the record this picture is of a vinyl replica of a pound of fat and it can be yours for the low, low price of $27.95 (I kid you not).
Then we have the pound of muscle. Not sure how much muscle I have gained but surely I have gained some with all the stepping, Zumba, and Kickboxing I have been doing. Don't know how you feel about it but I think the muscle is much more attractive, especially squeezed in a tight pair of jeans. Cook it medium-well and add a little seasoning and it might even be downright delicious :) The most important thing is that it is SMALLER than the pound of fat and smaller is definitely better in the wonderful world of weight loss. It is, however, a little bit more expensive ($29.95) but I am sure it is well worth it.
Now let me discuss the fabulous little gadget called the GoWear Fit! It came on Wednesday night but I didn't get to start using it until Thursday since it had to charge (and I had to read the manual and the FAQ on the
web site). But on Thursday I started using it and yes.... I am addicted already! I purchased the display too (pictured here on the left) so that I could monitor my progress during the day instead of having to wait until night to download the results. This picture shows the calories I had burned so far today (when I took the picture at 5:00). It also shows my pale, ashy arm. Apparently I need to hook up a little tan cream and some lotion. Crap.
Anyway, I went on the website and put in all my stats including, weight, height, etc. I answered some questions and also did a nutritional assessment to give the GoWear Fit an idea of my typical calorie consumption (On Thursday it was

approx. 1450 calories, on Friday it was 1650). The computer then figures out how many calories I need to burn a day, how many steps I should take, how much moderate activity I need, and an alarm goes off on the display when I reach those goal. Every night it takes all my info for the day and then tells me whether or not I am on a "weight loss trend". So far it is telling me that I am and I am showing a 2300 calorie deficit total (for 2 days). I also told the program that I wanted to lose 2 pounds this week so I am interested to see if I follow it precisely how much weight I will lose. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Weight loss is such a tricky, energy zapping, motivating, see saw of a commitment. The moral of this story? If you can't do it alone.... buy technology.
